Optimizer String Fault: Eastchester Residential Complex
String underperformance traced to a failing P400 optimizer creating a PLC communication break affecting all downstream units. Identified via thermal imaging and SolarEdge GO string analysis. One replacement resolved the string.
RS485 Bus Break: Multi-Inverter SMA Site
Three SMA Sunny Boy units showing offline in Sunny Portal. Physical RS485 wiring damaged at a junction box in the mechanical room. System continuing to produce but data gap undetected for 6 months before annual O&M visit.
Rodent Nesting: MC4 Connector Damage
Rodent nesting colony established under a large flat roof array. MC4 connectors on three strings damaged. Conduit breaches allowing moisture ingress. Discovered during routine inspection before fault condition developed.
Thermal Anomaly: Bypass Diode Failure
Infrared scan during annual PM identified four modules with classic bypass diode activation thermal signature; approximately one-third of each module was significantly hotter than neighboring modules. Modules flagged for warranty review.
