A commercial solar inspection from Wadadli Solar is not the same as a maintenance visit from your O&M provider. It is a structured, documentation-based technical assessment; the output is a written report, not a verbal summary.

Here is what the process looks like from first contact to report delivery.

Before the Visit: Review and Scoping

Before we come to your site, we need your system details:

  • System size (kW) and approximate panel count
  • Inverter brand and model (SolarEdge, SMA, Enphase, or other)
  • Installation year
  • Any known issues, fault history, or recent monitoring alerts
  • Access logistics: roof access, electrical room access, building management contact

This pre-visit review lets us arrive prepared. If you have monitoring portal access, we will often do a remote pre-inspection before the site visit: reviewing the event log, production history, and optimizer or string status. This frequently surfaces findings before we set foot on the roof.

The Site Visit

A commercial inspection involves three distinct work areas:

1. Array and Roof Inspection

We assess the array physically:

  • Panel condition: soiling level, physical damage, delamination
  • Optimizer condition (SolarEdge): LED state, physical damage, connector seating
  • Racking and mounting hardware: corrosion, fastener condition, rail integrity
  • Roof interface: penetrations, flashing, sealant condition, drainage patterns
  • Wiring management: conduit condition, weatherproofing, visible damage

We photograph every finding. Nothing goes in the report without a photo.

2. Electrical Review

At the combiner boxes, disconnects, and inverter:

  • Termination torque verification (MC4, string terminals, combiner terminals)
  • Grounding conductor inspection
  • Conduit sealing and labeling compliance
  • Inverter physical condition: ventilation, moisture signs, LED status

3. Thermal Imaging

We conduct infrared scanning during active production, ideally when the array is at or above 600 W/m² irradiance. We scan:

  • Full array (module by module where size permits)
  • DC combiners and string combiner terminals
  • Inverter heat management surfaces

Thermal findings are classified by delta-T from ambient neighboring modules. A hot cell above 20°C above neighbors is a high-priority finding.

4. Diagnostic Review

For SolarEdge systems, we connect via SolarEdge GO and review:

  • Real-time optimizer status and communication map
  • Event log (minimum 90 days)
  • String voltage and current readings

For SMA systems, we use the SMA installer app and Sunny Portal data to review:

  • Inverter event log
  • RS485 bus status on multi-inverter sites
  • Historical production trend

After the Visit: Technical Analysis

Inspection is not the final step. Back at the office, we:

  • Review thermal images against the string/module map
  • Cross-reference monitoring data against physical findings
  • Assess inverter lifecycle against the model’s design life specification
  • Prioritize findings by severity and cost-impact

The Written Report

Delivered within 5 business days. The report covers:

  1. Executive Summary: key findings, priority level, overall system condition rating
  2. Electrical Integrity: terminations, grounding, labeling findings
  3. Thermal Findings: annotated infrared images with classification
  4. Structural & Roof Interface: racking, penetration, and drainage findings
  5. Performance Review: production vs. expectations, monitoring quality
  6. Inverter Lifecycle Assessment: model, warranty status, estimated remaining life
  7. Preventive Maintenance Recommendations: prioritized action items, including cleaning interval recommendation where soiling loss is identified

Every finding includes: description, photo reference, severity rating, and recommended action.

Who Uses This Report

Building owners use these reports to:

  • Verify their O&M provider’s performance claims
  • Prepare for financing or insurance renewals
  • Negotiate O&M contract renewals from a position of data
  • Document due care for insurance purposes
  • Support manufacturer warranty claims

The report is yours. Use it however it serves your interests as the asset owner.
